Grant Description
Grants to Maine nonprofit organizations for a broad range of activities that benefit the environment. Eligible projects include environmental education and research, water quality testing programs, and land acquisition and conservation easements. Priority will be given to organizations that support the Foundation's mission to promote and enhance a harmonious relationship between people and the natural environment.

John Sage Foundation Evaluative Criteria for Proposals:

  • Does the grant request meet the mission of the John Sage Foundation?
  • Will the project benefit the relationship between many people and the environment, or reach a group which is underrepresented?
  • Will John Sage Foundation’s participation make a substantial difference to this project?

While the Foundation generally likes to fund a variety of projects, it will consider giving the majority of its funds to a single entity in any grant cycle.
