Awards to USA nonprofit organizations and individuals for contributions to community and economic development. Activities worthy of recognition include programs in the areas of workforce development, housing, financial literacy, social entrepreneurship, and other programs that build thriving, sustainable communities.

The Chapman Prize recognizes and honors each year the efforts and achievements of individuals and organizations in the U.S. who make significant contributions to American society.

The award will focus on a different theme each year, selected from the following: Health & Wellness, Arts & Culture, Economic Prosperity, or Educational Success. The Chapman Prize 2021 Theme is Economic Prosperity.

Economic Prosperity: Awarded to a charitable individual or organization who has contributed most significantly to the improvement of economic prosperity in the United States. By way of example, contributions may include creating safe and affordable housing, effective workforce development, social entrepreneurship programs and/or financial literacy programs to build thriving, sustainable communities.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Chapman Prize award is normally between $80,000 - $100,000

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or U.S.–based nonprofit, have been conducting charitable work for at least three years, and be able to show demonstrated impact in the selected focus area of the year in which the application is submitted in order to qualify.

- 07/01/2021: 2021 Chapman Prize cycle is open.
- 10/01/2021: 2021 Chapman Prize cycle is closed. Applications will not be accepted after 11:59 pm PT.
- 10/15/2021: The committee will begin to review applications.
- 12/15/2021: Review period is complete. Awardee and all applicants will be notified of their status and receive the grant award no later than January 31, 2022.
