Grants of up to $5,000 to Maine nonprofit arts organizations and government agencies to support creative arts projects in various disciplines and on any scale. Funding is intended for the creation and development of new work, the continuation of established arts programs, and the production of high-quality creative activities. Eligible arts disciplines include Craft and Visual Arts, Media Arts, Performing Arts, Traditional Arts, and Literary Arts.

Grant applications are reviewed on a competitive basis using the following criteria:
- Quality of the project plan, components and outcomes.
- Project shows evidence of artistic strength.
- Project shows evidence of community impact.
- Applicant shows strong capacity to complete the project successfully.
- Application overall quality.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Maximum Award: $5,000. Allocation for this award is made in two payments of 85% and 15%; please budget accordingly.

Term of Contract:

The funding cycle for this program is July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An organization is eligible to apply if it meets the following criteria:
- The applicant is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service or is a unit of municipal, county or tribal government, legally established in the state of Maine.
- Is in compliance with Final Reports required by the Maine Arts Commission for previous awards.

Applicants are welcome to apply to all grant programs in a cycle, but will need to select one if multiple grants across certain programs are awarded. Grant awardees may NOT accept more than one grant from the following programs in the same year: Partnership, Project Grant for Organizations or Organizational Development. However, grant awardees in any of these three programs ARE eligible to receive Arts Learning, Arts & Humanities, Creative Aging and Creative Communities = Economic Development grants during the same cycle.

Grant awards may not be re-granted nor used to cover the costs of brick-and-mortar projects, permanent or capital equipment, operating support or fundraising.

There is a 1:1 required in-kind or cash match for the grant.
